This past Sunday, February 11th the MANNA Singers performed on an outdoor stage in Copley Square for hundreds of participants and volunteers from Winter Walk Boston. This 2nd annual event is raising awareness and funds to help end homelessness in Boston. We sang “Lean on Me” to kickoff the beginning of the walk and after the walk (and the breakfast sandwiches) we sang “What a Wonderful World.” The crowd loved it; they clapped and sang along. Most importantly – the Singers felt really proud of their work!
Tuesday’s rehearsal was filled with lots of new things: folks who joined us for the first time, a rhythm experiment, introducing the round “Make New Friends,” learning a harmony part on “Octopus’ Garden,” and beginning to learn “You are the Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder. Since Mary Joy and Cale will be out of town next week, I made a proposal to teach a Feldenkrais lesson to the group and the vote passed! Looking forward to that.
