It was good to be back with the MANNA singers. Last week I was sick with a cold, but thankfully the wonderful musician Cale Israel was able to step in. I was really impressed with the way the choir sounded on Prince’s “Purple Rain” which they learned while I was absent. At the beginning of rehearsal today, we introduced solfège for the first time and played some fun games using these handy syllables. It was a productive rehearsal all around – we added a harmony line to the chorus of “Purple Rain;” we brought back “This Little Light of Mine” and added a sweet sounding low-harmony; we brainstormed Christmas songs we want to sing on our December concert; and we sang through both “Country Roads” and “Lean on Me.” Wohoo!
