On Tuesday, November 14, the MANNA Singers had their first opportunity to sing together in the sanctuary, which is very different from our usual rehearsal space in the basement. The singers felt what it is like to fill the cathedral space with reverberant song. The sanctuary is where our concert will be held on December 9 (at 4pm).
After warm-ups, we sang a new song for the MANNA Singers – This Land is Your Land, by Woody Guthrie. We reviewed some of the new harmonies we learned last week, and talked about what melody and harmony is. We then had a special election, using a ballot to vote on holiday song choices for our concert on December 9. We started talking about solo singing opportunities for the concert, and I was surprised and delighted that there were several volunteers that want to take a solo!
