We had a bit of a scattered rehearsal in a different space on October 3 because of the church’s clergy day. We still managed to sing a partner song – ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ and ‘Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In’ at the same time. Singing partner songs together is one step further towards our choir singing more complex harmonies and melodies together. Despite the distractions and scattered energy, we still brought music into the MANNA community to foster togetherness and joy.
This past week, we did a big review of all of our repertoire. The attendance was quieter this week, as people were perhaps resting up from their camping trip to Vermont over the long weekend. We sang another partner song, ‘I Love the Mountains’ to go along with the recent camping memories. I felt at this rehearsal we started to hear a much more unified choral sound, despite the small turnout. Here’s our repertoire so far, the majority requested by members of the MANNA community:
Let it Be – The Beatles
Country Road, Take Me Home – John Denver
Lean on Me – Bill Withers
Amazing Grace – John Newton
What a Wonderful World – Bob Thiele and George David Weiss
